Education: Moscow State Institute of Foreign Relations (MGIMO) under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the USSR, 1976; Institute of International Workers’ Movement of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR, post-graduate program, 1979. Ph.D. in history.
1979-1981: Junior researcher at the Academy of Social Sciences under the auspices of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union.
1981-1989: Senior researcher, editorial adviser, assistant executive secretary of the Global and Socialist Issues magazine, Prague, Czechoslovakia.
1989-1990: Senior researcher with the International Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union.
1990-1992: Deputy editor-in-chief of the Megapolis magazine, editor-in-chief of the VIP magazine, deputy general director of the Social and Political Research Fund.
1992-1996: Diplomatic career: director of the Information and Press Department of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs; representative of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Slovakia.
1996-1997: Press Attache for the President of the Russian Federation.
1997-1998: Deputy Head of the Presidential Executive Office, Press Attache for the President.
1998-2000: Deputy Prime Minister of the Moscow City Government.
Since January 2000: Aide to the President of the Russian Federation.
Since March 2004 - Aide to the President, Special Representative for the President for Issues of the Development of Realtions with the European Union.
